critique values discussed wk1

here are some of the shared values we established for critiques this semester:

-be ready to manage your own crit...a 'cold read' is only one response to work and oftentimes not the best...come with written questions that you want answered.  often, having a bad crit is due to lack of preparedness/thoroughness on the part of the critiquee.  lead us!

-occasionally the value of not speaking at all during your critique can be valuable...we will try this throughout the term

-we have to look into getting resources for crits (pedestals for example)...can we get consistent access to a range of presentation options?

-there are a number of places in the columbus bldg you can reserve for a crit.  some spaces may be preferable for your work.  moving us around the building keeps us alert and active!  some options we came up with so far:
312B
large scale painting studio
rm 117
courtyard

each of the above may need reservations/special permissions so start exploring these in advance for your own benefit...
