PECHA KUCHA (peh cha koo cha)
I was once invited to lecture within the Pecha Kucha format at the Modern Wing of the Art Institute about my work, and the particular parameters of Pecha Kucha (20 slides for 20 seconds each, slides advancing automatically, lookhere for examples) created a unique opportunity to move through a lot of information (quickly and with brevity) that I think is particularly ripe for our first day of class. After each PK presentation we can do a short Q&A that will be un-timed.
What you need to do:
1. make a 20 image powerpoint or keynote presentation about your work leading up to the class (this will give us all a shared background for your critiques this term)2. learn how to create a 20 second auto timer for each slide3. PRACTICE (i was warned to practice (and thank god i did) and i found it difficult at first, it's a tempo that you have to get used to as the image control is automated). if you run through it 4 or 5 times you should be relatively prepared for monday...4. bring the presentation on a jump drive ready to GO on monday
